Linda Richichi - Feel The Energy!

Change is in the air

May 2, 2011 by linda

Today I’m adding Stephanie, my assistant, as an author on my blog.

Stephanie: “Wait, really?!”

Yeah! It’s a great idea!

Each time Stephanie is here in the studio she will report what we worked on, progress made on Soul Portraits, new artwork, and any other exciting news. For instance I just got invited to another national plein air paint out which I’m scheduling in for next year! Also, this website will soon have new features specifically for the collectors of my work.

Details coming soon!

1st Annual Plein Air Convention 2012

April 1, 2011 by linda

Richichi at Invitational Plein Air Event

Eric Rhoad, the publisher of the Plein Air Magazine just released plans for 2012.

He says ” The Plein Air Convention & Expo presented by PleinAir Magazine is designed to be the largest gathering of outdoor artists and collectors in history.” Sounds like the place to be if you are a plein air artist. The new magazine is on newsstands now.

One of my favorite teachers, Andrew Lattimore of Cornwall was featured in the first issue. Andrew uses color like no other oil painter I know when working on a “realistic landscape”. You know how I expect color to speak!  Years ago when I began using the Golden Open Acrylic paints I took a few classes to brush up on my painting techniques from Lattimore.   Since I’ve been recognized for mastering pastels, I wanted to take my paintings to an even higher level as well. I wanted a teacher who had all the qualities I expect in a teacher… excellent drawing skills and advanced color sensitivity.  This combination is rare.  Andrew has a school in the area for serious artists so I knew that it would be a great investment if I studied with one of the best.

Bravo Plein Air Magazine for choosing Andrew for your first issue. Thank Eric Rhoads for bringing Plein Air magazine back. Hope to see you next year in Las Vegas to paint the town red.

Pastel Painting by Linda Richichi

A World Above Pastel Painting by Linda Richichi

When curator, Peggy Landrum,  of the newly remodeled UU Gallery, called to invite me to have a solo show in their space, I had to laugh and of course, say yes.  Just a few days prior I had  thought… ” it is now time to exhibit the works I’ve been creating for the past two years and I want them somewhere special… somewhere that is very spiritual”.  After viewing the gallery space, I think it is a perfect place for the debut of this new body of work with a show called Revelation.

These paintings bridge the gap between the Hudson Valley landscapes and the more abstract spiritual pieces.  As you can see in this pastel titled, The World Above, the landscape is evident yet the sky is filled with the spiritual beings. These spirits that been showing up in my work for some time now and are ready for the public to view.

For more information about the location of the exhibit on March 20th 1-4pm.

Soul Portrait Media Choices?

December 16, 2010 by linda

A question was just received from Terry who asked… “What are the differences in my choices for my soul portrait?

I ordered a sketch.  If I want to change to color, do you make a refined drawing and then add color to it?”

Great question! Let me explain. At this time I offer three choices … (of course, you can commission me to turn your sketch into a painting of any size and medium).

Soul Portrait  created from  a photograph into a ….

1.  Sketch

2. Black and White Drawing

3. Full Color Painting.

All are approximately 8″ x 8″  on a slightly larger paper or canvas.  The sizes do vary slightly.  The same size circle is used each time.

Every drawing  is a positive view and reveals an uplifting message to you. Let me explain further….

Sketch.  A rougher rendering of your soul’s call to you, what it wants for you to see.

Sketch for Cheryl H.

Each drawing is channeled through me.  This sketch is created on an acid free white drawing paper (although this image photograghed darker) using softer pencils (2B – 5B) which give darker values immediately.  A sketch is rougher in texture since the softer graphite doesn’t go down into the valleys of the paper.

A graphite Black and White drawing takes more time since harder pencils are used.  Using the 2H – 5H pencils, dozens to hundreds of strokes are necessary versus a few soft pencil strokes.  The finished version is more refined or it may involve using a toned paper where white is added for extra depth.

Mandala

A black and white refined drawing doesn’t get turned into a color painting. If you want to upgrade mid process, the sketch or black and white is a great reference only.

The painting in full color is a new piece of work.  Different media are selected depending on what I feel it calls for.  We can discuss the choices as well.

Rough Sketch first

Regarding pricing.. while I would do this for free (and I have),  free has no value.   I have found that people appreciate the drawings much more and pay more attention to them when they have given something in return.   We offer these at a fair price to cover our time so everyone can afford to see what their soul calls for them to see.

Soul Portraits are meant to inspire you and assist in the healing process. They are created as visual  metaphors so that  you translate the message as you grow.  You may find you see them differently as years go by.  I find different images in my paintings over time (and I painted them). Did you find the saint (or angelic like being?) in the detail from above? It is under the gold halo. That was an image I just discovered in one.

To order your portrait… send a photo  to linda@lindarichichi.com and we will discuss what works best for you concerning media, shipping and payment.

Sketch – $49

Black and White – $175

Color Painting – $495

*The above pricing is for 8″ x 8″ circular paintings on a 9″ x 9″ square.  Shipping and insurance are extra.

 2011 Special-

Free Shipping if ordered prior to March 28th, 2011.

Email linda@LindaRichichi.com for more info.

Pay pal, check or money order (or cash if local)  is used to pay for your soul portrait .

Thank you for your interest.
Blessings to you,

Class Fundraiser A Success

December 3, 2010 by linda

The Art of Giving- a huge success!

The goal was met.

The goal was met.

The Art of Giving was a fundraising event to benefit local children during this holiday season. It features a mosaic that was to be sold piece by piece. Each 5″ x 5″ was a painting, sculpture or mixed media piece. This helped two good causes- the St. Lukes Cornwall Hospital Pediatric Wing and the Junvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. There are still pieces left that will be made into a work of art. Where it will hang is still to be determined. Maybe two pieces will be made in order to begin promoting the event for next year.

Thank you to all who donated the works of art…..

Students of the Intro To Art Classes and Design Class.

Professors Mary Sealfon, Jackie O’Maley, Linda Richichi.

Professional artists.. Joy Monte, Debbe Cushman Femiak, Linda Nadas, Leslie Waxtel, Jeffrey Wallace, Joan Lesikin, Vivien Collens and Rosyln Fassett.

Local businesses…. Village Pizza of Cornwall, Chili’s , Pat Tarsio Bowling Lanes, and as soon as I find my list of relatives of students who donated pottery, Holiday decorated items, Avon, etc, I will add them to this post. Thank you all! Thank you to all the people who generously donated to our cause. There is still time to donate if you would like to have a work of art. Place your donation on line at jdrf. Suggested donation $15 however, donate what you can afford. You can pick up a work of art at the college. We can make arrangements to meet there. email me at Linda@lindarichichi.com

This fundraiser event ends onDec. 10th, 2010.  Thank you for your interest and thank you to all who donated and all who helped to make this a huge success.

The Art of Giving

The Art of Giving is a  fundraising event to benefit local children during this holiday season.  It features a mosaic that will be sold piece by piece. Each unframed piece of art is 5″ x 5″. Donate what you can afford and in return  receive an original work of art while helping two good causes.

The students in Linda Richichi’s Intro To Art Class launched this fundraiser that will take place on Nov. 30th, 2010 as part of a class assignment.  Faculty professors at the Newburgh campus Mary Sealfon and Jackie O’Maley (and students) also donated art to be included in this almost 100 piece mosaic.

When local professional artists Leslie Waxtel of Montgomery, NY, Joan Leskin, www.LeskinArt.com of Cragsmoor, NY , Linda Nadas of Rock Tavern, NY and Rosyln Fassett of NY heard about the event, they immediately sent in their fine art 5″ x 5″ pieces to be included.  The mosaic will be photographed and made into a print for permanent display at the college.

The public is invited to participate in the event to help raise money for the Pediatric Ward of St. Lukes Cornwall Hospital and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. On Nov. 30th you will be able to buy the individual 5″ x 5″ pieces from the mosaic that contains almost 100 small donated works of art, baked goods, hand painted gourd ornaments, hand made duct tape clutches, handmade bags and more. Everyone who donates at least $5 will have their name put in a raffle to win donated items from students and local businesses that contributed goods to be given away.

The event is held on Nov. 30th from 9am to 8:30 pm at the SUNY Orange Newburgh Campus. You may know this as Orange County Community College

One Washington Center
Newburgh, New York 12550
(845) 341-4541

See a few of the submissions from the professional artists below.

If you would like to donate money online and have a chance to win your favorite piece, simply log onto the JDFR site to make a contribution. Suggested donation is $15 although you can donate what you can afford.  READ the details below carefully!

1. Consider that the top three donors will automatically receive a professional piece of artwork in addition to the one they receive for donating.

2. Once you placed your donation email me at linda@lindarichichi.com and tell me what number between 1 and 100 that you would like your name placed on.  You will receive the 5″ x 5″ unframed art piece that matches the number you select at the end of the event.  All numbers are located on the back of the artwork so that no one knows what piece they will receive until the event is over.  Your online donation will first be verified before your name is placed on the line of the number you asked for.

3. Please have a second and third number choice in case the number you select has already been taken.  Once the numbers have all been sold, we will post on line that the mosaic is sold out.

4. Our fundraiser ends on Dec. 10th. The money raised will be divided equally between our two charities.  Thank you for participating in our unique event. This idea is growing in popularity around the country and we thank who ever first had the idea. With this event- evreyone wins.

5. Please add $1.00 extra so your artwork can be mailed to you.

Please feel free to share this with your friends.

Awaken Fair

October 27, 2010 by linda

Updated on Nov. 22

The Awaken To Your Best Self Fair in Tarrytown, NY at the Double Tree Hotel  on Nov. 21st was spectacular.  The latest addition to my body of work…. Soul Portraits was well received. Thank you to each one of you who commissioned a  soul portrait. These works of art use visual metaphors as a way to depict your highest self. These portraits are created to inspire you.    I’ll be spending the next couple months creating 22 new works of art for some very awesome people.

As I put my pencil to paper,  intuitively, the drawing emerges giving you an image that is both inspirational and enlightening.  Embracing unconditional love is what these are all about.  They seem to change over time. As you grow, you see new aspects of the drawing or you understand the meaning of it further.  This is fun for me to do and is enjoyed for years to come by the recipient.

Introductory offer..

Sketches –                            $49   ( All are  drawn within an 8″ x 8″ circle)

Drawing -                            $175   (More refined and detailed)
